SCI Global, Inc. provides background check reports that are easy-to-read, self-explanatory and confidential.
Our software utilizes Secure Socket Layer (SSL) connection with 256-bit encryption, similar to what banks use to encrypt financial information while in transport over the internet.
Database & Backups:
Only authorized individuals can access data. Access to our database is restricted to Secure Socket Layer connections and password protected. Users' passwords are stored with bcrypt (1-way salted encryption) and are unrecoverable even in the unlikely event that the database was compromised. Daily database backups are archived in perpetuity and available for restoration if something cataclysmic were to happen. The database is encrypted at rest, so if physical hardware was compromised the data would be unreadable.

Established in 2012, SCI Global, Inc. began as a private investigative agency conducting surveillance and activity checks for major law firms and insurance companies. Over the years, SCI Global, Inc. has diversified services to include pre-employment screening, as well as, armed & unarmed security services.
Barry R. McGrath
Owner, operator and investigator, Barry holds a bachelor’s degree in law enforcement from Western New England University and is currently enrolled in the Master of Public Administration program at Roger Williams University. Barry has over 20 years of experience in private investigations and law enforcement and has served as a municipal police detective, patrol sergeant and a member of several regional task forces. These assignments included SWAT (RRT) regional response team, Computer Crime Unit Forensic Examiner, as well as a regional drug task force detective. As a member of the agency’s bureau of criminal investigations (BCI) Barry was responsible for investigating criminal acts such as homicides, sexual assaults, armed robberies, home invasions, and property crimes such as burglary.
John "J.J." McGrath
John has a wide and diverse range of experience and training in security, law enforcement, and investigations. As a veteran of the U. S. Marine Corps and U. S. Air Force, he has extensive training in weapons, close-quarters combat, security operations, counterterrorism, nuclear weapon security and emergency response to critical incidents.
John continued his service to our Country with his thirty-two years in the law enforcement profession. He rose through the ranks of the Sharon Police Department as a Patrolman, Detective, Sergeant, Lieutenant and Deputy Chief of Police. He served as Patrol Division Commander and Staff Division Commander.
James Barrett
Jim holds a master’s degree in applied sociology and a certificate in public management both from the University of Massachusetts. Along with Jim’s impressive law enforcement and academic background, he was a public policy fellow at Harvard University’s Kennedy School. Jim is a Gulf War veteran of the United States Army serving the country for more than 6 years on active and reserve duty.
Jim Barrett has worked for the last 25 years in law enforcement where he currently runs the agency’s bureau of criminal investigations (BCI). He investigates major crimes, acts as the agency’s police prosecutor in all criminal court matters and conducts employee background investigations routinely. Jim is a trained expert in surveillance and undercover investigative operations.
